Yeah, it was a shame they were for sale for such a short period of time! As soon as I saw them, I bought them up! Actually, I went in there to purchase the yellow monitor Jim had for sale and saw the Ackies. I said to myself, "Matthew, you can finally get an ackie trio, breed them later, and then get into a yellow monitor project." I purchased the Ackies and have been daily delighted with them. They are growing to be my favorites. The way they interact with each other, chase their food, and dig all over the place is awesome.
I did aquire the other Argus/Flavi pair from Exotic ARC in a trade deal and have been pleased as well. The female is rapidly putting on more weight, eating quite well, and much easier to handle than the male. The male is not bashful, swiftly investigating what I'm bringing in when I open his cage, hoping it's rats or chicken peeps. He actually charges the entrance most days. He has not bit me, but I haven't given him the chance when holding him. Being so food responsive, powerful, and swift, I prefer to let him be. I'm much faster and have a much bigger brain, but I don't want to slip up around him. Sometimes the big Argus and their kin just have to be left alone. They are very active, great eaters, and fun to watch as they dig and investigate, but I'll stick with my other monitors to chill with and handle. I posted some pictures in the monitor photo gallery and have more if you want to take a look. What do you have in your collection, besides those nice crosses?
