what's compatible with a brindle?

redmoon Dec 05, 2005 07:50 PM

I have a female(i think? can anyone tell from her colors?) brindle black rat, and a male albino black rat. I don't want to breed them together, and come up with normal babies. I got two albinos in on a trade, and lost one of them, and haven't gotten around to replacing her yet.
Last month I talked to the guy I bought my brindle from, and he told me he'd make me a deal. Asked me to bring my albino down to the show, and he'll work something out with me. Now, my albino is two years old, compared to his hatchlings, so what I'll probably end up doing is walking out a few dollars poorer, and several snakes richer. Since I have a female brindle now, I want a male brindle.

However, recently, someone suggested that I get a rusty instead of another brindle. I'm getting a male brindle either way, but now I'm thinking of getting a female rusty as well. I was told that rusties are co-dominant, and that if I got a rusty, I could breed my brindle with it, and put out brindle rusty babies. Is this true? I've seen baby rusties, but I've never seen a picture of an adult. How do they turn out as adults?

thanks,
Ron Nocera

Your brindle is nice and it looks like a female..but i could be wrong...A guy in PA cross the brindle and rusty some yrs ago and the babies was very odd [cinnanmon blk rat ]I say go for it!!!!!! they were tan w/ blk flecks throught out the body with those classic red [rusty]eyes!!!!!!! I have a amel rusty female I'll try to post pic soon ....I think brindles and rusties are underrated!

awesome. It was sold to me as a female, but it had been popped as a baby, never probed. I don't quite trust that. Thanks for the info.

She's what started my love of rats. I had corns before her, but none of them have her personality.

I know the males tend to be lighter than females - even as adults, but that could very well be a female.

later.
