UPDATE: On the sudden deaths of 2 of my babies:

jenjames06 Dec 05, 2005 10:01 PM

We got the necropsy information back and it's only raised more questions. The internal organs and stuff looked fine except the intestines had bloody spots in them but no parasites. Otherwise the snake looked to be perfectly healthy(no resp. infections, parasites, excellent wieght, ect). Has anyone heard of bad feeders causing bloody spots internally(intestines)? I am really suspecting the feeders because my other snake has not had any problems and he did not eat when the others did(he is a fully grown 1700 gm male and for the most part eats every 2 weeks instead of every week like the rest of mine). I was just wondering if anyone had heard of the bloody spots in the intestines before? We are laying our two babies to rest tomorrow if it does not rain. May they rest in peace. At least whatever killed them did it quick and they did not suffer much.

Like I said in your earlier thread. Well I'm not very fond of buying Frozen Rodents because I know much of it is Lab Surplus and have personally lost perfectly healthy reptiles. A friend of mine also lost almost his entire collection and thought he had a virus in his collection. I mentioned getting his rodents tested and he did but I forget what come up but the feeder rodents were the cause of death! I breed my own feeders and know exactly what my herps are eating.

As far as what may be cause blood spotting on the intestines of your snakes I haven't a clue. Did you look intoi testing your rodent supply?

Best wishes

Frozen rodents are actuly better than live. When the rodent is frozen properly it will kill all parisites, the only thing it will not kill is cripto. Lab rodents are cleaner Because of good food. We use to use landolakes rodent food, at one time and this food was not heat processed and make with animal by products. when tested it had tape worm eggs hook worm ect.. when the rodents eat thak they get worms. Then the snakes get them. Frozen is Best. Or a reliable rodent breader. Never Never feed your rodents dog food.
