cricket question....

metal_pitbu11 Dec 06, 2005 01:33 AM

well, first of all, i regret to inform everyone that i am giving my newly aquired leo to the local humane society. He appears to have some sort of eye problem and i cant afford to take him to the vet for a month or two. But the good news is, i just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by switching to gieco! just kidding...just kidding. actually I plan to get another one after christmas time, so in the mean time, im gonna do a lil more homework. but my question was, how do you guys keep your crickets? I dont find it very convenient to buy a dozen every other day making trips to the pet store as often as i have been, so is there some way to keep a weeks worth of crickets alive for the week? if anyone has a good link to keeping/breeding crickets, i would appreciate it. oh, and sorry about the geico joke, i couldnt resist. lol. thanks guys.

the humane society is planning on treating him and adopting him to a new home. Don't flame me for this, I didnt know what else to do, give the guy a fighting chance, although it cant be with me, he will make someone happy.

and i found out that 80 is too much to pay for a sick leo.

What I suggest is that you buy loads of crix and start a crix farm they will mate lots of times and it will take you ages to finish.

Crickets were always hard for me to keep. They always died within a couple days. If you breed them get ready for the stink of your life! What i would suggest is that you switch to mealworms. They are a lot easier to keep alive and cheaper. Plus you can just leave them in a bowl instead of picking out all the left over crickets in an hour.

I never had trouble keeping crickets.
Mine are in the aquarium in the basment, along with a UTH and a heat light, and lots of paper towels to hide in, and of course food and cricket water.
As long as they stay slightly warm, they will be fine.
When they are adult thats when they die quickly
