Dented/wrinkled eyecap

phiber_optikx Dec 06, 2005 03:56 AM

I am just curious.... What does it endicate when a snake has a wrinkled eyecap? He has shed since it became apparent and it still remains. I have raised the humidity and no change. I am sure it is at lease slightly affecting his vision but he doesn't seem to be suffering any ill effects. Any advice? Thanks again everyone!

You're right - it's a humidity issue. But it takes more than one shed to rid the eyecap of the "crinkle." As long as you continue to provide the right humidity level, the wrinkle(s) will disappear after the next couple of sheds.

It's a carmel corn. Their main characteristic is they do not have red, but still have the other standard corn snake colors.

My king didn't have wrinkled eyecaps but had wrinkled scales all over when I first got her. It's taken over seven months and five sheds to ease up to the proper "shiny shield" look that she's supposed to have. I think it is a humidity/hydration thing, but it's just slow to right itself.

A relatively large water dish and humidity box should in theory work. Or of course, there's always checking with a skilled vet just in case.
