You can tell when they are hatchlings easily, pardalis pardalis have two or more spots on each scute. Once they get beyond hatchling stage it is impossible for the average person to tell them apart imo. You can't tell just by looking at them. Then there are crosses out there that can display the characteristics of either. Then there's the whole debate about whether or not there are sub-species. Imo this is one of those your at the mercy of the breeder deals.
