parasite or protozoan sign?

edkim Dec 06, 2005 07:37 PM

I have two baby boas that have been dropping some really rancid and soft stool. It's not as "normal" the ones my other baby boas have been dropping. It is really softlooking almost like a paste and it smells horrible. I have heard rancid stool can be from parasites or protozoans. Any thoughts? Any replies would be much appreciated. Thank you.

It's most likely internal parasites of some sort. I'd get a stool sample and take it and him to the vets.

Protozoans are parasites. As are worms, which is probably what you're asking.

Are the parents wild-caught? If not, then parasites are less likely. Begin with taking a fresh sample to your vet for analysis. Ensure that your temps are proper so that digestion is occuring properly. Other husbandry cues should be addressed to eliminate stress as a factor.
