My BP Bogart is just over two years old now . He is a very sweet snake with the calmest temper and was a wonderful feeder until recently . He used to eat rats weekly but now he will only accept f/t mice . I try to give him a rat every 10-14 days and if he does not take it my JCP sure will . He always takes his mice though , so at least he is feeding . I am not really worried about it but it would be so much easier to feed him one rat rather than four or so mice . Do any of you have any suggestions on how to try to get him to take rats again . Thanks .

There is nothing to worry about if your ball python gets a little finicky once in a while. A few of my males do this once in a while where they get turned off from rats and choose to only eat mice. When this happens I just make sure that I give them around 4-5 mice instead of the rat that they are scheduled to eat so just make sure that you supplement the rat with as many mice to make up for the size of the rat and eventually they will go back to eating rats again and then go off again and on again. You should only worry about a balls eating habits when they start looking slim but as long as they are keeping on their body weight I have had some go off feed for a month or two with no problems. Hope this helps.

Thanks,
Mohamed
