How big around do Florida Kings get?

bucknutty Dec 07, 2005 07:01 AM

I just picked one up from PetCo for a decent price, IMO, and i can't seem to find how big around they get. My roomate has two ball pythons, how big compared to one of them?

My guy is about 14" long right now, i am feeding him pinkies, as i wasn't sure what he's used to. From all the reading n whatnot I have done over the past few days i have found varying results as to how often/much to feed, also have no clue how old he is. Is there any one definitive place to get my info from?

Any help is appreciated. This is my first snake, btw. I have him in a 15 gallon tank with rainforest bark shavings....i wanna swap em out cuz tey seem kinda dusty. I am just useing my friends travel python cage for now till i find out a proper size aquarium and have enough money to get it set up properly. Thanks in advance for any help.

At 14" it is an 05 hatchling or a nearly starved 04. A 10 gallon would be fine for about a year. make sure you get a locking top. It will get fairly thick, but nowhere as thick compared to a ball python.
