confusion on breeding

jeebadog Dec 07, 2005 01:55 PM

Im confused on one part of the breeding process. Is there a difference between indroducing a female to the male's cage than introducing a male to the females cage. Does it even matter??

It is a better idea to introduce the female into the males cage as males are territorial and may not like the fact that they are in a new environment... It might also be a good idea to hold the female within eye sight of the male to see if she is receptive before placing her in the cage.
Good Luck and let us know how it turns out. Remember its a good idea not to leave them totally unsupervised

o thanks i was just wondering because i already have a female chameleon in an enclosure and i think shes ready to mate. My plan was to introduce a male with her temporarily because i do not have room in my house for another big cage

When shes ready to breed she will have robins egg blue marking on her casque and along her spine. It is best to place the female into the males enclosure. One because the males are teritorial and, atleast for my females, it makes the females feel safer in their enclosure.
