Leaping Lou!!

FEENIEE Dec 07, 2005 03:54 PM

Last night I was giving the boys a shower. When Lou's turn came, I was about a foot away from the schef. plant in the shower when the little turd literally jumped off of my hand and onto the plant. I've never seen this before and was very startled! He landed on the plant and climbed to the top before settling in for his shower. He was o.k. and even did his business in the shower, but I've never seen that before and next time will make sure he doesn't have the opportunity to do it again! It could have been ugly. Has anyone had a cham. do that?

Feenie- Let me tell you, Ive had my share! When Capuchi is either frightened, startled, or he wants to get back into his cage...he will literally jump OFF my hand. Its especially likely to happen if they feel threatened, and its a last resort to escape. Chameleons in the wild will do it. Even when Cobalt and Capuchi want to get onto their plants, and they cant reach, they will try and jump onto it. Worries me to death too, so your not the only one

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one with a flying Chams!! I have never seen or heard of it before! I was speechless!! He had have jumped about a good foot or so and all his legs were spread out and he grabbed onto the branchs and then it was business as usual. He never seems to amaze me!!

I have a female veiled that is very jumpy. If she gets nervous at all when being held she dives. It is a natural reaction, chameleon ribs are mostly cartilidge(sp?) so when in a situation they can fall to the ground or branches below and get away mostly unhurt.

Hhehehe,

Seriously I know how scarey it is, not with my chameleons but with big leaftail geckos, that need hydrating, they hunch and LEAP, always worried about SMASHING/ CRASHING down or into walls, whatever and getting hurt.

That Lou needs to sit in a JACUZZIE, it's safer, LOL

Man I'm telling you, between him and Sam, their poops are like a large chihauhua's!! He needs to find the soap and wash his stinky little butt!!! I always know when they've gone, it looks like a log at the bottom of the cage!! Thankfully, they like to go in the shower, and Sam will always go in the same spot!! I thought Stitches were huge, but these two make him look like a peanut!!!
