Melamine Question

zach_whitman Dec 07, 2005 06:30 PM

Does anyone know if they make 1/2 in thick melamine in 4x8 sheets? All I can find is 3/4 inch. I live just outside NYC so if anyone know of a lumberyard or distributer that carries it, that would be sweet.

My homedepot has 12 inch wide shelves from rubbermaid that are 1/2 in thick but I need something at least 14 inches wide. I have seen a few premade shelves that are the correct width but they are are too short and too expensive.

Cabinet shops have it, so yes, it is out there. I got some at a local cabinet shop before. In fact, they made a shell of a cage for me.

Not a Home Depot though. Many good things aren't at Home Depot.

i agree with mark,i have a cabinet shop cut all my rack pieces then i assemble.most people don't realize that the grade of melamine that a cabinet shop uses is much better than you get at HC's,plus you get perfect cuts with no waste.BTW i use 5/8" melamine with a 35" spread with no drooping.have fun!
