courting question

macajuel Dec 07, 2005 07:35 PM

my male very rarely shows my female any attention but today he was all over her. My question is that is it normal for a male to show spontaneous interest to a female while in her enclosure for a long time? or should i keep taking him out when he doesnt show interest?

it is common to show a difference in interest...
I have a male Panama Boa in with a Female Hypo Panama and he didn't go near her for two days. Then he rested near her for two days. Then he courted her non stop for a whole day. Then back off and showing little to no interest.

If the male shows little to no interest for more than a couple days, you could and probably should move him, take him out for a day or two and then replace him, or switch him with another.. your choice.. but the reintroduction can spark that interest.

A few other tricks used to get him started are to put another male in there, or to put the shed of another male in there.

Best wishes.. -Joe
