Using a mobile thermometer i have reading in a 20L tank as follows.

100 under the spot about 110 about 3 inches from basking area
looking at the tank in 1/3s

area near spot 95-100
middle of tank 88-90
far end 78-80

my dragon is about 6 inches long and he stays near the basking area but every now and gaps his mouth like he is too hot. I know this can be normal but how much is abnormal and am i risking over heating him. He has two levels on the basking branch on is directly under the light and one is a little higher and more off to the side of direct light but still nder the dome area

thanks

Temps seem fine to me. That's close to the readings I get using a digital thermometer. Not sure of the difference between yours and mine though. I also add a shaded spot to make a really cool spot on the cool side. You can use one of those half pieces of wood, or just angle a piece of cardbaord against the far wall like I do. This will give him a nice fully shaded part that sould read around 70-75 depending on the house temps.
