This is a stupid question, but I've never gotten a straight answer, what is the most toxic/venomous/poisonous animal on Earth? I've heard a variety of answers before, so I thought someone here would know for sure, thanks.

The reason that there is a variety of answers is that it really depends on how you ask the question:
Some venomous are very toxic, but they don't have the most advanced delivery system.
So: please pick the question and then I am sure someone will give the answer to the one you pick:
a. Ounce for ounce the most toxic venom?
b. most deadly in practical terms (ie in wild and natural situations) (ie kills the most number of people on earth--like the puff adder which is responsible for 60% of snake deaths in Africa)?
c. most agressive and toxic and deadly to keep in captivity?
(cobras are intelligent and sit there all day thinking of ways to get at you is pretty deadly in my book. Agile, too!).
d. most deadly with the best delivery system?
e. Delivers the most copious amount (though not the most potent) of venom and holds on if it wants to (ie the gaboon)?
f. Deadly because there is no antivenin such as obsure aggressive snakes like pakistanian saw scale?
Please pick the question that you would like to ask and I am sure that would get you the specific answer for which you seek.
cheers.

Longtang. I like snakes and rats.
I am sorry. Let me correct myself. I shouldn't say that there is no antivenin for certain saw scales. Just that you have to put some effort into finding it.
cheers.
By the way, I really shouldn't talk about the saw scale at all becuase I really know nothing about the saw scale {So, if I have put my foot in my mouth, please forgive me.) except that it is very toxic and not somehting I want to mess with.

I've heard the world's most venomous CREATURE given variously as a jellyfish or a cone snail. In ounce-for-ounce terms that is. The world's most poisonous animal, maybe a dart frog or a pufferfish.
I believe the ocean holds the deadliest creatures on earth. This is because prey needs to be killed quickly otherwise they will swim off never to be found again. I think the most venomous creature is a jellyfish, and sea snakes come close as well.
