Hi Everybody! Got a new Ball and have a question

tex540 Dec 07, 2005 09:14 PM

We haven't had a Ball for alomst 10 years, and it was finally time to get another one. We got this little cutie from a local reptile shop. I think it is an imported CH. It has a couple of little irritated spots on his belly that look like they might be places where a tick was. Our plan is to keep him on paper towels and treat the area with novlasan or neosporin and keep a close watch to make sure there is no spreading. Any other things that we should be doing?

I know the pet shop did not have a heat rock in with their balls. It is a very knowledgeable reptile shop that I have done business with for almost 15 years, and they know better. I suppose it could be a burn from the distributer, or maybe from a heat pack in shipping. If it is a burn, should I treat a burn any differently then just keeping it clean and dry and letting it heal until the next shed?

Hard to tell from the picture - but I would say its a little bit of scale rot - not too bad - keep it clean and dry and it should go away with the next shed or two.
