someone told me they are the most inteligent lizard...some one else said it was a toss-up between tegus and asian water monitors..anyone know?

There smarter than most people think. Santiago Likes to eat his Kingworms when there inbetween the Beatle and worm stage. You know when they look like the alien Creature.I usually chang his Subsrate Around 9 -pm when I do it. When I start Using a dust pan To shuvle the Orchid bark out of the cage into a buckett, He comes crawling out of his burrow and starts digging nexit to me looking for the grubs. He has done this every time for the last couple of years. Russ

they are very smart.
my female doesnt have much personality but my male is just hilarious. he ha learned that if he wants to eat my dogs food, he can take a piece and put it into thier water let it get soggy and then eat it.

Other times i really wonder about him though, like his shoe fetish. he always puts his head inside my shoe, the other day he was walking around with my shoe over his head, i have a pic somewhere it was hilarious

how could you not post that pic. lol I would love to see it

smarter than most lizards, but I think that monitors as a whole are more intelligent, specifically the crocodile monitors just look at their eyes, you can see them thinking, but tegus are very intelligent, much more so than beardies, geckos, iguanas, frills, or skinks

Hmm, Breaded Dragons IMO are very smart. I remember when i was 20 and stripe was 2. Well, Like most normal 20 year olds, girls are trouble. I was dating this girl for a year. Me and Stripe have always been real close, he use to fall asleep on me while i watched TV every night. Me and that girl broke up and she moved out of our first Apt, needless to say i was upset about it. Well, it was a normal night (2 days later) and me and stripe (the bearded dragon) were watching TV. He fell asleep so i put him on the top/back of the couch. I fell asleep on the couch and i woke up in the middle of the night to check that he didn't fall and i wasn't laying on him. Well, as most of you may know. When its dark inside and out a breaded dragon sleep like no tomorrow. When I woke up and put my hand up where i sat him down. He was in his bulldog stance on top of the couch Pitch black dark. i was surprised he was even awake so i looked up at him. He looked down and gave me this cocky look and put his head up high as if he was saying. " i got you, there is no reason to be upset". He stayed up all night protecting me! (a tear). The little bugger slept for 3 days after that, but you definatly will be surprised by how smart a reptile is. Sorry for the long story!
