Can you give us morph name and breeder? Looks like it could be called about 10 different color phases.

joe1983 Dec 08, 2005 10:22 AM

This is a Butterscotch Ghost from Susquehanna Ectotherms.

davester Dec 08, 2005 10:24 AM

So you could also call it a butter hypo correct?

joe1983 Dec 08, 2005 10:31 AM

Yeah that would work... in fact it is truely not a ghost at all. For it to be ghost it would have to have both the hypo and axanthic genes showing at the same time to be a true ghost.

davester Dec 08, 2005 10:37 AM

Now I've heard everything. So some breeders are calling hypos ghost but ghost are really hypo anxantic. You know maybe they shouldn't of been called ghosts at all. There's no white.

davester Dec 08, 2005 10:47 AM

Cool snake by the way, I forgot to complement you.

joe1983 Dec 08, 2005 10:53 AM

I agree with you 100%. I think the Ball Python crowd is the only one to call a hypo a ghost. I would love to see a True Ghost Ball.

ginebig Dec 08, 2005 11:04 AM

I think you should send him to me so he can be my little buddy
He's a beautiful snake no matter what you want to call him.

Hypos are called ghosts because of their faded look and because they shed clear (like a ghost) a True Ghost (hypo x axanthic) has not been made yet - but I wouldn't be surprised to see on pop out this season.

No you can't call it a butter hypo - butters are a completely different morph.

I meant butterscotch hypo.

davester Dec 08, 2005 11:29 AM

I know this is the ball python forum and all but here's a "GHOST HONDURAN MILKSNAKE" which is hypomelanistic and anerythristic, Notice the white where it usually is orange and there is "trancsulant tipping" on the ends of his scales. I just saw a anerythristic on Ralph Davis's unproven morph site, and by breeding two hets he got a ghost or something.

gailt Dec 08, 2005 12:35 PM

Is that your Ghost Honduran? It's a beauty

Thanks, check out the milksnake forum sometime!
100% pure Honduran!!

gailt Dec 08, 2005 01:25 PM

Dave, I use to breed Hondurans. I bred Tangerine Albinos and Anerytheristics. I produced a Snow a couple of years ago. I sold my entire collection of Hondos last year. Needed to whittle down the animals I work with, due to space and time. I love Hondurans, they are one of my most favorite Milksnakes
Here's my Snow baby ...

Soooooo my question for Ball Pythoners, if you take an anerythristic and cross it with an albino you should have a double het for snow correct?

Nice Snow Hondo Gailt here's my pair!(O.K. no more posting milks)!
