U. sikorae or U. pietschammi

mphelps Dec 08, 2005 02:04 PM

I have a large empty vivarium right now and am considering purchasing either a pair of U. sikorae or U. pietschammi. I thought I'd survey the list, esp. those of you who have kept U. pietschammi, about which species is preferable in terms of (1) hardiness in captivity (esp. temperature requirements), (2) sheer enjoyment in keeping them, and (3) breeding potential.

A few years ago I kept and bred U. henkeli, and kept a pair of U. phantasticus that sadly never showed any interest in breeding. I assume that keeping U. sikorae is similar to keeping U. henkeli. But I have no experience with U. pietschammi.

Thanks.

well, i haven't kept any corkbarks, but currently keep lineatus, sikorae, and henkeli.
i would say $$ wise the sikorae might be a better investment, especially if you have a large enclosure. depending on the enclosure size you could very easily get like 2.3 sikorae for less than a pair of corkbarks.
that would probably be what i would do, but then again if i had 500 dollars to buy geckos right now i would probably buy some CB fimbriatus or some Rhac. chahoua so i may not be much help
