alternatives to high humidity?

goregrind Dec 08, 2005 02:48 PM

if a snake requires a high humidity level (70% ) and you could not raise the humidity that high could you just mist the snake a few times a day?

is the humidity needed for shedding or respiritory purposes?

ex: if i kept an amazon tree boa with a humidity level of 45-55% would it die or shed in little pieces?

Humdity and moisture are not the same thing though closely related. Depending on the snake, the humidity level can affect their hydration, in most cases however humidity levels are not so important and a few soaks around shedding time is sufficient. If you want to increase the humidity level, just add a larger water container to the cage, humdifiers are cheap too.
