Why is my corn so small?

Uberkid Dec 08, 2005 07:53 PM

Hello I have a baby corn that i have for about 4 months maybe a little longer and hes STILL 13 inches long maybe 14 but in that middle. He eats like a pig and has shed a few times maybe 5 ot 6 times since ive had him but he hasnt grown an inch and still is the same weight (72grams). Im starting to think i have a pygmy corn snake or something, maybe a new breed. he hatched out sometime in spring. What can I do to help him grow?

He will grow when he grows, there isn't a whole lot you can do to help. But if you are insistant, try feeding smaller meals. Try feeding a small meal on Monday, and a small meal on Friday. I hear that they grow faster with smaller more frequent meals...

If your snake is shedding regularily, it is growing. simple as that
Don't worry.
One day you will look at it and think..."wow, when did it get that big?"

It could very well end up being a small corn.
I have an 'o2 snow that is probably only 34 or 35 inches.
She ate normally has a hatchling but grew slower then the other snakes and was always more reluctant to go up in prey size.
She absolutely refuses to eat anything larger then a hopper.
I would try an adult mouse every few weeks to no avail. I even refused to feed her for a month to try to get her to go to adult mice. She wouldn't so I quit trying. I feed her a nice hopper each week and we are both happy...lol
In the case of your snake...as long as it is eating regularily, pooping regularily and shedding regularily I wouldn't worry.
I still wouldn't be surprised to see you on here in a couple of months saying.."wow, when did she get over 20 inches?" LOL
