Boelens/JCP cross...anyone ever attempt it?

Jaykis Dec 08, 2005 08:27 PM

Would make an amazing looking animal, I think. I still think an Apadora/Boelens cross would be easier, provided no one turned into dinner.

My personal opinion...I would hate to see a Boelens crossed with anything....
They are so hard to come by, its darn near impossible to even get ahold of Boelens...I would love to see more people Captive breed them, I would love to own one,but don't have an extra 5-7 grand to get one...I am not even sure if they are that price..I saw some for sale..Adults going for 20 grand a while back. Thats just my opinion though...

Hey Jaykis!!!

I have never heard of anything crossed with a boelens python either. Truthfully, Id rather not see it until the boelens themselves are more established in captive breeding programs.
Lets not turn this into another "hybrid debate"

Why are they so rare??? Are they difficult to breed or what?

They are beautiful and I think a lot of us would like the opportunity to work with them.

They're rare because they're extremely protected by the PNG gov't...like bird of paradise feathers. WC animals would be rather suspect, to say the least...AND they're hard to breed because they live in the mountains and require humidity and temp drops. But I want a pair, lol. And to interbreed...? Never.
