How do I secure an aquarium?

waspinator421 Dec 09, 2005 08:38 AM

Hi - I also posted this in the Cage Design forum, but I thought you guys might be able to help as well.

I am planning on starting a baby monitor (either dumeril or yellow) off in a 75-120 (havent decided yet) gallon glass aquarium, but I can't seem to find an escape-proof lid for one. I can't even find a screen top! I know screen tops are bad, but I figure I could put a sheet of plexiglass over the top to keep in humidity. I've searched stores, I've searched online... I can't even find plans or ideas to create one! Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places?

I have had some great help on this site for ideas on covering a stock tank, for which I am very grateful, but the aquarium still eludes me. It may be a simple question for you guys, but I've never been that creative with constructing.

Does anyone have any suggestions, or can point me in the right direction? Preferrably I would be looking for one that isn't too much of a hassle to take on and off, so daily cleanings wouldn't be so much of a chore.

Thank You!!

A sheet of plexiglass for one side and various heat proof materials for the side with the heat lamps and such.just put something heavy on the top of it and poof escape resistant at least. As I have not seen anything escape proof. If the conditions are good inside they have no reason to want to leave.
