Would a double decker cage be a waste for a boa?

cee4 Dec 09, 2005 08:55 AM

I know this isnt a breeding question..I am going to build a new cage for my female Columbian ..Would a 5Lx4Hx2W cage with a floor in the middle, making it a double decker cage so it would have 10ft of floor space be a waste or would she utilize the space by going up and down? I realize large boas are not that active but I dont want to waste money or space, yet giving her the best is not a problem for me..Thanks

I had a large female in a cage that was 3 feet tall, 2 feet wide, and 5 feet long. There was a 2x4 running across the length about 2 feet off of the floor. There was also a shelf up there. She spent most of her time up there. Occasionally after feeding or when shedding she would be in the floor of the cage. At nights she got down and roamed around a bit too. I think its healthy to give them options although not always possible.
