I have seen them advertising on this site for quite a while. I have never bought from them, but I have a hunch. Take this for what it is, just a hunch. I'm almost positive that their animals are all wild caught. I don't know how you feel about that. The only state that still allows wild collection and sale that I know of is South Carolina. Some people don't have a problem with wild caught animals, so make that judgement for yourself. Have you checked any rescue organizations for adult females? Kingsnake has an adoptions section where I've seen a few available. Virginia has at least two agencies, but I don't know how they deal with interstate trade. In NC, we can only do in-state adoptions currently. Good luck.

The only state that still allows wild collection and sale that I know of is South Carolina.

Two others that come to mind are Texas and Nevada (with appropriate permits).

Yes, you are right. I'm sorry, I didn't specify Eastern box turtles (Tcc. That's what I was referring to. I'm so used to talking to people here in the Southeast about turtles that I keep leaving out all the other species. Speaking of which...I just recently began captive breeding ornata and luteola. To me, they have been the best kept secret of my box turtle world. They are just wonderful little guys. They are so pugnacious. Even hatchlings are much more boisterous and hardy than any of the Tc ssp. complex. Even my wife likes to watch them chase crickets and mealworm beetles.

Hi,

I have dealt with this shop before and have nothing but good things to say about them. In fact this they are one of the few retail groups that I will wholesale my animals to.

Yes they do occaisionally offer wild caughts, but both Mike and Scott are straight up guys and are more than willing to answer your questions. So if this worries you ask, they do occaisionally offer captive bred individuals as well. Let them know what you are looking for and I'm sure they will try and help.

Any pet store carrying bulk Eastern Box turtles probably deals with some wild caughts. I do however know Scott at Amazon and if you are looking for a well run pet store and an honest dealer, Amazon Reptiles is the place.

If you are looking for captive bred eastern box turtles, you will have to seek one from a breeder. Best idea if you are really conservation conscious is to adopt from the many rescues across the country with animals that can not be returned to the wild.
