Nice big Baidi clutch from my gal this week.

Hurley Dec 09, 2005 04:52 PM

My big, big Bairdi gal graced us with a huge 14 egg clutch of eggs this week, and I'm so proud of her.

Here's mom:

and the eggies:

(battery just for a size reference, lol, those eggs dwarf my corn eggs)

Very, very cool. Is mom by any chance Vivid stock?

Hurley Dec 09, 2005 06:41 PM

Nope, she's out of Adam Block's former pair. I forget who has them now. I love her orange and her light steel coloration. Unless she's in shed, her black longitudinal stripes are barely noticeable, which is to my taste. I like the ones without the deep black longitudinal lines, they just look cleaner.

That is a great photo of a very pretty snake. I also like seeing what the eggs look like. Thanks...TC

wow Connie,
Getting an early start this season, aren't you?
This is even earlier then last season isn't it? It seems like your first clutches were hatching in January last season. Of course, I could be wrong.....again.
Either way, still pretty darn early....congrats.
I never get tired of seeing her. She is one exeptional bairdi and that is a beautiful photograph.

I'm about on pace from last year, maybe a bit earlier. I had 2 sets of brumating groups. The first gal actually laid in October and the first hatched 15 minutes before New Year's. The rest in that group didn't go until later. The main group was hatching starting late February on.

This season, I'm looking at clutches hatching the end of January/early February. We've got 7 on the shelves so far.

It's really out of necessity we have them on this schedule. Our current setup utilizes the A/C for brumation cooling...so they brumate the last half of summer when the A/C is cranked. We staggered them this year so the last set just came up a couple weeks ago and the first set came up the end of August. Keeps things from bunching up.

I can't wait for these babies. I love this Bairdi, she's just my baby. I'd post a new picture of her, but I haven't gotten a decent one in a while...and well, I like this one. LOL

I'm sure you guys will see pipping pictures within seconds of when I do.

Connie

Hurley - do you have any pics of mom from a distance? I always see these great bairdi's from up close but I'm wondering what a nice one like that looks like from farther back.

Hurley Dec 13, 2005 10:46 AM

I'll have to look about for a more long-distance shot. I found this one saved on the FTP that shows the pair (Daddy is the more yellow one, head to the top).
