GBR Press: Greedy snake released into wild

Dec 09, 2005 08:03 PM

I trust you Python-people will forgive an old newt-guy for not posting this in the specific sub-forum, but I don't know in which Annacondas belong. There are photos at the URL. Cheers, Wes

BBC (London, UK) 09 December 05 Greedy snake released into wild
A 2m long snake has been released back into the wild after eating a whole baby cow in one go!
The huge Yellow Anaconda was captured by police and residents in the city of Ipiazu in Brazil after it was spotted snacking on the 150 kg calf.
Seven men then helped move the reptile a safe distance away from Ipiazu, to an area near the Paranaiba River.
The anaconda was the third one found in the area in the last few months.
Experts say this might be the result of animals leaving their natural habitat because too many trees are being cut down, forcing them to travel further to find food.

Jaykis buddy, I expected you to say something about that "2m Yellow Anaconda" being a 3.5m GREEN Anaconda. And mentioning to the nest guy that its in the boa family....Not to be confused with the antelope family. lol

Just had to add my two cents....

Lucy...my eyes just went from 2m to anaconda and 150lb and ignored the yellow part. Sorry about that, lol. Worst bite I ever had was about 25yrs ago from a 6' yellow. Carried a tooth in my finger for 2 years.

PS...someone didn't like my ape reference on the other thread. I'll stick to antelopes

Its alright, I forgive you. The worst bite I ever had was a 7' BCC right between my wrist and my first thumb knuckle. In fact that was my FIRST Snake bite ever...

Antelopes are a funny enough subject for our eyes...LoL

Don't forget jackalopes

On my yellow bite, I was attempting to grab it by the head, slowly coming down from the top. I was 3" away when.....

The KFOR people in Oklahoma City have posted a video link to their news report on the same story ... ther before and after shots indicate that the anaconda possibly "regurged" during transport ... if it is the same animal.

Look down the left side of their page at http://www.kfor.com/, and it will hopefully still be there.
