get your tropical plants now...

I don't know if this is kosher here or not. A couple buddies said it should be fine, but if it's not, please just delete the post. This isn't meant to be advertisement, i'm in no way affiliated with the below company- I just wanted to put the word out, to help out other herpers.

I'm building my dad a planted vivarium for Christmas. I was checking out all the stuff online, at Blackjungle, and a bunch of other sites, and they all seem decent priced.. until I checked out Wal-Mart. Right now, they're clearancing off all of their tropical plants. They have "4 Inch Asst. Tropical Plants" for $0.50! It's because they're all going to die in the cold, so they're keeping them inside now, rather than outside, and they're wilting without the sunlight. A few were still outside, but it's too cold for them out there, and they're starting to die, too. Took me a while to find mine, but there were tons of lively ones. They're in reality anywhere from 4-16 inches tall/long. Tons of pothos, and phyllodendrons, ferns, some succulents, lillies, and ivies. And a couple bromeliad-type things. So, if anyone's looking for cheap plants for in a vivarium, I'd recommend checking there. I know I was thrilled to find them. Saved me quite a chunk of change. And I almost ordered a bunch of stuff online right before going to wal-mart.

The problem with buying plants from sources like that is that they are fertilized with chemicals and sprayed with pesticides. You usually get what you pay for. I get my plants from Black Jungle and from a local "organic" plant shop.
