additional heat for Boaphile cages.....

brettbender Dec 10, 2005 01:39 AM

Helllo to all, I was wondering if anybody has any good suggestions for providing addtional heat to the 4ft boaphile cages. I have 1.5x heat installed but I would still like to get a little more heat in there since we've had a really cold winter all ready.

Thanks in advance!
Brett

I checked out Roones site and it does not say how long the 1.5 flexwatt is.. Does the 1.5 mean it is 1.5 foot? If so you can add a peice of 2 of 11" flexwatt and that should add more then enough heat for yoru herps...

still get more heat. There's a good chance you are losing some of the heat. When I used the boaphile 421D with 2X heat I was able to get slightly higher temps by placing a 4 foot piece of rigid insulation under the cage. It's available at home depot, lowes, etc. Comes in different thicknesses, I used the 2 inch, and it's the same size as the cage, 48L x 24W x 2T. It only cost a couple of bucks and can raise your temps 3-5 degrees or more.

Thanks! I will give that a try first!

I have the 422D, 48 x 24 x 17.5. I really like the look of the cage, but its large size makes it hard to heat in winter I'm learning. It has 1.5 under cage heat and when I ordered it, they forgot to put in the overhead heat panel. So I added one myself on the same side as the undercage heat. Through summer and fall, I was able to keep it 90 on hot side and 80 or so on cool side which was ideal. now with winter, even though my thermostats are set near 100... the hot side only gets in the 80s. I'm going to have to add another heat source. any suggestions?
