help with new hogg

riddick13 Dec 10, 2005 11:10 AM

i just got a new hogg island and i'll be keeping her in a glass tank for a short while. i got a uth for the tank but am having a lot of trouble keeping temp stable, either to hot or too cool. she's about 4 foot and beautiful. i know the 75 gallon tank is not the perfect home for her, but its only temporary. i need to make this last for at least a couple months. theres a screen lid on top and i'm thinking maybe a heat lamp would be better for the hogg. any advise on the best method of heat for what i'm looking for would be great.
thanks for your time

I would not use the light bulbs. The uth should be enough.

I've got my hold-back female from this year in a 20 long until
she's big enough for a 4 foot Vision.

I use an UTH and what I do is tape cellophane wrapping to the
screen to block off about 80% when she goes into shed to raise
the humidity. My temps are good but I'm in Miami the temps here
are easy to deal with.

Good luck. You may need more heat depending on the ambient temps
of the room your using. (Too cool is better than too hot)...tc
