severe dehydration/emaciation problem

bloodycoils72 Dec 10, 2005 12:34 PM

Hi, I need some help quick for my mussarana. For the past 2wks after he got lose and got stuck to a heater tape(I carefully removed him but he lost alot of ventral scales with no blood),he fed once more for me then his weight and girth almost overnite dwindled. So now I have him in a rubbermaid with plenty of moist substrate and humidity and water/w electrotize supplement by exo-terra. He has been very weak but he drinks the supplement in his water frequently. Any suggestions on how I can save my snake?
Thanx Hassan

Stuck to a heating pad?

If just dehydrated, but still drinking, I'd say home care is adequate.

Unfortunately your snake will continue to loose fluids from it's wounds/burns, infection can quickly turn systemic, and a large weight loss is further need for hospitalization.

Good luck with your snake, your DVM should be able to turn it around
