caging idea for skiddish monitors

apollosdad42 Dec 10, 2005 02:13 PM

Hey everybody,

I'm working on designing a new cage for my timors. I've used my old one for about a year, and while it does the job, I want to make some improvements.
I've already looked at treemonitors.com and I'm going to be building a cage along those lines.
My question is this: Has anyone ever tried one way glass or window tinting rigged so that I can see in, but the monitors can't see out? I'm sure anybody with timors or tree monitors could see the possible advantage of disturbing the animals less if they didn't know you were there.
I just wanted to get your thoughts to see if anybody's tried it or if they think it would work. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Yes sir, its been thought of many times. The problem is, they have more senses, they hear you coming.

There are many approaches, and we could argue them until the sun goes down, and up again. You can allow them to get used to you, which monitors are very good at. Or try to remove you, all humans, from the equation. I perfer to form a feeding bond. Then they learn very quickly to not be afraid of me. Good luck FR
