Fun with a skull

terrapene Dec 10, 2005 05:42 PM

Had some fun today taking some photos of my pythons on a cow skull. I got about one good photo for every 40 tries (I am so glad we are in the digital age!). Here are my best two shots of my male and female 75% Diamond Jungle crosses. Enjoy!

Those are definately some of the coolest pics i've seen in a while! Neat idea!

When i was younger i kept a corn snake, and in his cage was a deer skull that i found. He used to like to curl up in the brain cavity.

Also, those 2 snakes are absolutely beautiful specimens. I really like the one on the bottom, but they're both very very nice.

Thanks for posting,

Joe

Thanks Joe! Since you liked my male, I have included one more photo. It came out blurry, but at least you can see his pattern. I have owned this snake for about two years and I still never tire of looking at him...he is gorgeous! Paradoxically, although he is the best looking snake I've ever owned, he is also the meanest...this guy has one aggressive attitude (I am hoping that translates into lust this spring!).

Beautiful snakes!

How did you treat the skull? I have a deer skull that I want to put in with two of my rat snakes, and I don't know how to treat it. We tied a rope to the rack, and threw it in my uncle's pond for a couple months, to get everything cleaned off of it, but from here, I don't know what to do to make it safe for the snakes.

Redmoon,

You should boil the skull in water for a couple of hours to kill of any bacteria and remove any other bits of tissue. The pond was a good idea. Usually you can just leave it outside for a few months and mother nature will strip it clean.

That is definately one of the best looking diamond/jungle crosses I have ever seen. Its really a marvel to look at. Too bad on his temperment Hopefully some of his offspring will be just as stunning and will be a little less aggressive. Good luck this spring!
