Is this an amel or reverse okee?

Cl0wn Dec 10, 2005 07:08 PM

Hey guys i've had this girl for about a year now and I got her from a local reptile store and she was sold to me as a regular albino corn for $25. But now that I look at some pictures in the new corn snake book by kathy love shes looking like a reverse okeetee, am I wrong or right? If she is a reverse okeetee then Ill be really happy and will have some interesting breedings but if shes a regular amel it doesnt matter, I just gotta know. Ps sorry for bad pic.

Actually, if you look closely that snake does have white borders...just not enough or clean enough to classify it as a reverse okeetee.

A reverse oketee is a "normal" amelinistic with wide white borders. There is really nothing out of the ordinary on a reverse oketee gene wise.

thanks normsis. I'll still breed her and maybe her babies will improve on those saddles as they age. thanks for the help.

First let me say a reverse okeetee is an amel. So the breeding possibilities would be the same.
A reverse okeetee is a selective bred amel bred to have wide white borders around the saddles.
That being said, yours does not qualify as a reverse okeetee.
It is an amel.

Here's a pic of one of my reverse Okeetees. "Back in the day" they used to call amels like yours with little or no white "sunglows" - I'm not sure if that term is commonly used anymore with corn snakes.

Nice reverse oketee! I love those wide white borders. My reverse male is no where near that white!
