DeKay's Snake

SeaStar427 Jul 23, 2003 05:59 PM

Hey everyone! My dad found a tiny snake, and he brought it home to me today. I'm pretty sure that it is a Dekay's snake, but I'm not positive, mainly because it is tiny, and I can't find stuff on the internet about them. I would really appreciate anyone replying with some basic care for this snake. I have a yearling corn snake, but this one I don't know that much about. Thanks.

First, be sure it is a DeKay. If it is then this is how we set ours up. I put it in a critter keeper (since they are tiny and I worry about escapes. Then I put in 2 inches of damp eco earth. Shallow water dish, small hide (which is redundant with the eco earth as they will burrow all the time. and feed it soft bodied bugs and worms. No supplemental heat really.
