Calcium Supps

Neocalglucon is calcium carbonate, am I wrong?

I was told by a trusted rep vet friend of mine that calcium gluconate (or maybe it was glubionate, i dont remember 100%) is more easily processed by the body and is better for animals with MBD. if this is true, why is cal carbonate more common?

My mum, who is a Physician's Assistant, explained to be just why Calcium Carbonate is so common. It's basically egg shells. (Anyone tell me if I'm wrong, bad short term memory) My stomach hurts at the thought of trying to digest that! -Kez

thanks I see ground up egg shells reccomended for calcium in (mammal) diets...

Do eggshells count as animal protein? So is it just the fact that its such a minute quantity which makes it OK to give you calcium-defecient igs?
