What would be possible reasons and solutions if a male boa shows no interest in the female. They are definitely a male and a female. The female is 7' and stout. The male is around 4' and 2.5 years old. They are both very healthy.
Thanks,
Dan

Need more info....What are the temps of the males cage and the females cage? Thanks Andy
The air temps are at 80. There is a cobra heat mat. The two are kept together 24/7. They are separated now as I just fed them. The male is with another similar sized male now but I will put him back with the female. Another larger male I had bred successfully with the female last year. That male has been sold. The female has regained all her weight and looks great. This is the second time I have tried to breed her. I don't have much experience and was just thinking if I was doing something wrong or if stuff like this happens occasionally.
Thanks,
Dan
Well, 80 degree temps sounds good...so when you put the male in does he move away from female or does he start toungue flicking everything?
If he does nothing ...hhhmmm...maybe he is too fat?? Because he sure is old enough....do you have any pics of him? Also the female...how does she look? Thanks Andy
When I put him in he just shows no interest. I also used a yearling male and he showed no interest either. I will look for pics. The males are not fat at all. The snakes don't really pay any attention to one another. This is the first year I have used the male. This year I have been feeding him a small to medium rat every 2 or 3 weeks. The female is stout. She is about 7'. Last year the male I used was a large male hypo. He stopped eating around October. He started courting immediately with another hypo female and I took him out right away and placed him with my albino female. He was'nt as eager as with the hypo female but he did court and breed. Maybe I'll just keep trying to breed them. Perhaps moving him in and out more often or misting will work. I really would like to hold the yearling male back another year although he is not much smaller than the 2 year old.
Thanks,
Dan
