Jay,
In putting the book together, we asked a lot of people for a lot of photos. We tried to use pics that we felt best represented each morph, and sifted through approximately 5,000 pictures, - whether ours or those submitted by other individuals - to try to find the ones that really "fit." To say that Kevin is *extremely* picky about photos would be like calling the Pope "a little bit Catholic."
Some of the photos from other folks were indeed due to the fact that the animal involved was one-of-a-kind, while other photos represented some animals better than photos we already had or had time to take.
We also discovered that in the course of putting a book together, photo files may not always behave the way you want them to - i.e. corrupt files, photo size not working with the layout & cropping makes it look weird, photos shot @ the wrong resolution, etc. This resulted in some substitutions & last minute re-shoots along the way, kind of a "work with what ya got!" situation.
Hope this help shed some light. Thanks for the kind words also - we're glad that the book is finally out & that others are able to enjoy it!
Kara - NERD
>>I really enjoyed it read it cover to cover yesterday. The pictures were amazing and it was put together much better then most of the herp books out there. It wasnt cut and dry there is humor in it and the foward by Ralph was great. Now I have a dumb question for NERD. It seemed like 95% of the pics were from NERD animals not including "one of a kind" snakes. Were the pics from other breeders because you didnt have that morph or because the pictured snakes were a better representation of that morph? like I said dumb question just thought that they would all be yours unless it was one of a kind or you were showing the first animal to exibit [insert morph here] trait.
