How long can they go without food?

sw0rdf15h Dec 11, 2005 01:51 PM

I'm trying to get my Pacman hungry enough to go for tong-served food or at least something other than crickets (there are fish in his water dish, occaisional pinky). I wanted to know how long I should wait before his next feeding. He's been getting 10 crickets every day. I don't want him to starve or stress out from lack of food though, where is the line? Thanks.

my pacmans have never eaten out of a water bowl. i usually just toss the fish on the ground in front of them or tap them in the mouth with it. but i guess yours is a reluctant eater hence the hungry tong attempt. unless there is something wrong with them or they are already undernourished (which im assuming yours isnt), they can go quite a while. a week would get him nice and hungry and shouldnt harm him any.

It depends on a number of things such as age, temperature, and what it had normally been fed for example, an adult that has been well fed could potentially stop feeding for more than a month if it is kept cool. Years ago I had a male that would often only eat every 30-45 days in the winter. (It was kept at room temp).
