what are you feeding him? keep him warm (80F) and feed him well.

Ive been feeding him half inch crickets hes ate like 4-5 of them but he hasnt pooped i think im going to get a guppie tonight but his temp is 70-80 depending on the lamp. Hes really cool and an eating machine.

if it ever becomes a problem, the easiest way to get them to poop is to put them in a container with very shallow (no deeper than their mouth) warm water. warmer than their usual tank temps but cool enough for you to easily keep your hand in. this usually triggers them to poop. what do you mean depending on lamp? are you still trying to figure out which one you want to use, or do you have one for day and one for night? try and keep it closer to 80 than 70.

I dont' use a day lamp because it gets too hot, so I have two heating pads on it. But I do use a night lamp so that I can view him without turning on all the lights and annoying him (he's really scared) The problem is the night lamp is hotter than the day lamp (80-90 right near the light, probably low to mid 80s directly on substrate, whereas during the day it's slightly below 80) Is it unhealthy to have the night warmer than the day? Thanks.

it should be cooler at night than during the day. what wattage night light are you using? is it red or blue? i would get a lower wattaged night bulb. is the night bulb an infrared heat bulb?

I am curently using a blue heat lamp i live in missouri and it gets pretty cold at night.
