Black Phase Mex Mex Revisited

Eimon Dec 11, 2005 07:47 PM

We like the "progress" pics showing the growth and change of mexicanas. So I took a few new pics of my Blair darkies. I'm not completely happy with todays pics, but they show the idea ok. The male is a little darker than the pic shows. They're a little over 2 years now, with the first pics taken about a year ago.

Eimon

PS- You all have been killin me with the past couple of weeks of posts!....lol.

Man you're killing me. How big are they now?

Eimon Dec 14, 2005 06:03 AM

Hey Tony, what's up! They're growing well, although I haven't been pushing them much. I plan on working them stronger now to the end of next season, then pair them up for 07. I'm glad you didn't "need" them any more....lol.

Thanks,
Eimon

It wasn't really a question of need or not needing. I've just ocme to the conclusion that when I don't keep my wants in check its the snakes that suffer. I've only so manny hours to give to the hobby I can compartably care for 24 snakes in that time frame. Incidently this is how the collection shook out after moving animals out:

2.3 thayeri
2.3 coastal plains milks (hypo)
1.1 goini (blaze phase)
0.1 goini (Ozborns hi orange for outcrossing to blaze)
1.2 Sonoran kings (founder stock, Brewster Co TX local)
2.2 San Felipe rosies
2.2 Bairds rats (Val Verde Co TX local)

Been pretty happy with this mix!

I thought you were giving up everything to work on the Rosy Boa collection?

Those are nice, I have never been much (I stress much) of a mex mex fanatic, but seeing all these dark phase ones lately makes me want a pair. They are awesome looking. We need to work out a Rosy - thayeri deal next year.

"I thought you were giving up everything to work on the Rosy Boa collection?"......No, I'm not that smart...lol. My problem is I don't seem to "give up" much of anything. Just find more room for additions. Besides, there's just too many interesting kinds of snakes out there (like thayeri) so I really like your idea for the coming year!

Like a fine wine, those mex mex's got better with age.
Great pics of your pair and they look very nice.
Happy Herping,
