When breeding an albino to a het albino, does the het have to be the same strain as the albino?
nm
but you won't get any albinos just hets of one strain possible het for the other strain.
the people buying a het to go with their albino or buying pairs of hets are just taking a chance?
they are not taking a chance if the animals they intend to buy are of the same strain. the only two known strains right now are khal and sharp. these two strains are not compatable (the strains bred to one another will not produce albinos). an inteligent person attempting to produce albinos, would be sure that the het they are buying is het for the strain of albino they currently have.
in reference to possible hets then yes they would be taking a chance. but they still should have bought a possible het for the strain that they currently have so that would not be the chance they are taking.
I had a feeling someone would try to get "technical", but I figured I'd just make it easy...my mistake! Okay, you do NOT have to breed the same strain together if you want to simply produce babies. BUT...IF your wanting to produce albinos in THAT breeding(which I would assume he meant), then YES, they better be the same strain or your just going to end up with a mess. That is what I assume the nature of the question was originally. Take care
