Humidity question

freon546 Dec 11, 2005 10:37 PM

I've read from some people that corns need more humidity that you might think (50-60%) and other people say they dont need much humidity at all. So whats the deal?

I built a crawly structure to go on top of my corn snake tank and it has plastic mesh stuff covering it. I have been covering it with trash bags (on top of the mesh) to keep the humidity in. The room humidity is 30%. Is this too low for the corn snakes?

i know the humidity needs to be a little higher when they are in shed, but what % humidity should it be at when they are not in shed?

I have always kept my Corn at room humidity with a humid hide only at shed time. I live in the NorthEast and it gets kind of dry in the winter. I have never measured for humidity. I have had my Corn for over a year and have never had a bad shed. Corns don't live in really humid areas year round in the wild.

Corns are fine with room temperature unless in shed. It wouldn't hurt to mist the cage a little ever so often though. Check them often though, because I was under the assumption that my BP was fine at room temperature and now his eyecap is crinkled.
