Hi.
I am interested in getting some as well for the PacMan frog that I recently aquired. I just learned that you can purchase it from a fabric store and they may actually call it "upholstery foam". I haven't checked into it yet, but I plan to. Hope that helps...
Foam rubber?
sounds to me like something that should only be used to ship amphibs.
Maybe for an arboreal frog it would work. But pacmans should be able to dig. They need a partuculate substrate.
i'm curious as to why you would want to use it as substrate, unless you are shipping, or a breeder with a large amount of animals. looking at a frog sitting on foam rubber must be awfully boring. natural substrates might be more work and require caution but will make both you and your pets happier in the end. you will observe more natural behaviours, such as burrowing.
I would not recommend foam rubber as a substrate or any type of styrofoam. If ingested it is potentially problematic and I would also be concerned about potential toxicity due the the chemical composition of such materials.
