soaking too much??

kkierstead Dec 12, 2005 08:51 AM

I have a possible gravid female that is doing a lot of soaking in her water. I have checked her over more than a few times and see no evidence of mites (trust me been there done that before). Is this normal? Has any one had this problem before? If she is gravid her eggs are due in about a week or so. This obviously is my first year breeding. LOL.

Thanks Kim

i'd say there is some type of parasite problem going on. check the water bowl for mites. I had a bp soak like that last year and i checked several times for mites but didn't see anything until after about ten days they were visable. don't know where they came from nobody ever does they pretty much just appear. get some P-A-M asap and you should be find. the trick is to caught it early.

I haven't seen any in her water. I have dealt with mites before so I basicly know what to look for(not saying she deffinately doesn't have them). I was checking out Markus jayne's breeding site, and it was said that the female will rap around the water dish and soak. I believe they were talking about for the pre-lay shed(witch I believe she already had) though.

Thanks Kim
