Feeding Sand Boa Rats... is it a problem

Biscuit71 Dec 12, 2005 09:22 PM

I purchased a few rat pups for my ball and he wasnt interested in eating, and since it was time to feed my Female Sand, and i didnt get a chance to get mice, i fed them to her... she ate them like they were candy... 3 of them to be exact.. she usually eats 2 adult mice. She is growing like a weed, and hopefully getting the size she needs to produce for me this year.. any thoughts if pups are ok for her?

Holy Cow she's a chubby one . I don't think rats will be a problem as long as she can take them down. There's actually some debate as to weather rats are a better food source than mice. They're both rodents so I wouldn't worry to much about it.

lol yea, when i said she is growing like a weed, i should have said EXPANDING like a weed. She has actually just started filling out like that. her back end is huge around. The guy i got her from had her on a 2 fuzzies every other week diet for the first 2-3 years of her life. As soon as I got her, she got onto a 2 adult mouse every 7-10 days.. she seems to like it, and so does her bottom it seems.
