Every leucistic texas rat I have encountered has been hell spawn. I would recomend the leucistic black rat instead. My black rats are kitten calm!

I have been breeding both for years. My adults are as tame as corns. They never try to bite. It is an individual thing. A few are feisty, but most of the ones that I have dealt with have been very tame. Some are a little nippy as babies, but almost all have calmed down with handling as they grew. Rin

I've got both as well, but my experience is limited to babies. My 3 corns have never bit at me. My Leucistic has struck at and bitten me a few times... barely felt it. As he's grown (about 7 inches since I bought him from SMR - he's 20 inches long now), he's calmed down considerably and I believe that he's almost as tame as my corns. Since I handle him daily, I'm sure that he'll be just as tame as my corns before year's end. My 4 year old daughter and 9 year old son handle him (with supervision) easily and they've never been nipped at.

Suggestion... if you want a Leucistic Texas Rat, GET ONE and tame him down a month or two before letting your kids handle him. With your older kids, it shouldn't even be a problem. ENJOY!

I've worked with both. Corn Snakes are hands down the best pet snakes. In most cases you can count on the fact that a corn snake is not going to strike at you - I cannot say the same for Texas Rat Snakes. I raised a pair of TRS from babies, bred them a couple times, and then sold them - I was tired of getting bitten. I still have plenty of corns though.
