Photo Thread - Comment and then post your own.

WillHayward Dec 12, 2005 11:38 PM

Here is my idea. I hope it motivates people to post photos, comments, and share others in a more orderly, friendly and organized fasion.

So, leave a comment or a few on photos you enjoy, give suggestions, ask questions, or anything. Then make your own post continuing on with the chain, making sure that you reply to this thread and not another persons comments.

With that being said, here are my photos, enjoy them.

Here's a couple of old pictures from a couple of years ago, thanks to the kingsnake photo gallery.
The first one is of my Ambanja panther, Smaug.
The second is of my male veiled chameleon.

Whoa! Man that veiled looks huge and nasty. I know hes all puffed up, but he looks Ginormours with the belly bloated.

Any recent photos of that Ambanja?

>>Whoa! Man that veiled looks huge and nasty. I know hes all puffed up, but he looks Ginormours with the belly bloated.
LOL!
Yes, he was a mean lil bugger. HUGE too. I sold him early last year before I moved to Riverside California...

>>Any recent photos of that Ambanja?
Sadly no. I kept him when I moved to Riverside, but I ended up losing him in August of last year. We had a bit of some hot weather (back when I thought 105 was hot), and his misting/cooling system went on the fritz. I fixed the cooling system, but the damage was already done. Ended up losing 2.2 ambanja panthers. That same week I also lost my job, my wife's van engine blew up (costing over $5000 to fix) and I got a $300 speeding ticket. That's pretty much when I decided that I don't like Riverside, sold my house, and moved to AZ.

I don't know what to say. That sounds like the worst time ever. I'm glad you weren't discouraged from keeping herps.

I've been around a little while now. I've had my share of ups and downs. In that time, I've learned that a broken man will be pushed down 999 times before he stays down. A successful man will be pushed down 999 times, but he will get up 1000 times.

.... On that note.... just as I hit 'post message', I lost power to my system and I lost most of morning work. LOL
Ah well... back to square one.

you are having a rough time, huh!? I like the broken/successful man saying, never heard it before.

So you lost two sets of chams to hot weather? I remember when oyu moved and got rid of a lot of your animals but don't remember that paricular loss.

I had one HELLUVA time last summer/fall. I kept the worse parts out, as I don't want to drag this discussion/thread down. I lost most of my leo projects, I lost about 20 baby bunnies when the misting/cooling system went on the fritz, I even lost my dog's WHOLE litter in the fall (after spending $3000 in vet bills).
But yes, I sold off most of my collection/projects before moving to AZ. The only thing I kept were my beardies and my dogs. Oh, and a stupid cat.
Bounce bounce....

Sorry to hear that Victor. I hope things go better this summer for you....

But on a happier note, lets get back to the original happy thread Will started, about photos. First of all, how the heck did you take those pics Will, with no background?!?! I am guessing that you used photo shop, and magnetic lassoed out the background. Is that what you did?!?!

I took some pics today, specifically for this thread, but I am having problems transfering them. So I will upload those as soon as I fix the problem. So, for now, here are the same old pics that you guys are probably so sick of seeing....

Adam, there was a little editing done, but for the most part, all you need is a manual camera and a simple set up like this:

Patient animals.
Some lights.
White bristol board.
And a really old second hand SLR camera.

Here is a growth sequence of my baby veiled cham, Lucutis. The first is of him at 1 month old (I think)... sorry its a little fuzzy. The second is at 3 months, and a little cranky. The third is him this morning at 5 months old, he is shedding but you can still see that he is developing his stripes quite nicely. Enjoy!

Yes I did the drawing, I was bored at work. My cham Fonzy does has a cricket bite, he's 11 months and I got him from Scott on Kingsnake. He was selling all his lizards... Fonzy was his personal pet and when he was born got bit by a cricket!
thanks alot!
