Gas Chamber (Part 2)

Kilhd Dec 12, 2005 11:59 PM

Hi all. Ok so after some reading and suggestions I think I am going to attempt to build a CO2 chamber. I went to wal-mart and picked up a 20oz CO2 tank. I also have a bucket for the actual "chamber" part and silicon to make the fittings air tight... but I am having much trouble with finding the valve/hose. I could go to my local Sports Authority(sports shop) and buy a remote hose for $60 or I guess I could order one online.. but still a bit pricey it seems since I don't want this for playing with a paintball gun. Anyways.. I was wondering if any of you out there kwow a cheaper way? I have the perfect air tubing, just need a on/off valve that fits my CO2 tank. ( http://www.sportsauthority.com/sm-pmi-pure-energy-20-oz-aluminum-co2-tank--pi-1327744.html ) is the one I have. Local Home Depot doesn't have a valve I need and there is no local paintball shop.. any info/help would be great.

I am not a mechanical person but you might try Pro Products who sells misting systems, heat panels and provent-a-mite. Their misting systems include various valves, tubes etc that they also sell individually. This would probably be a more economical way to go.

Try a place that makes hydralic hoses. They usually have tons of fittings and valves for all kinds of different uses.

I was thinking along those lines too. Do you have Red-L down there? Very proffesional, perfect fittings, and cheap, since they usually sell bulk to other companies.

Another way to go about the whole C02 chamber thing is to approach a gas supply company (compressed oxygen, nitrogen, C02, acetylene, ect...) You'd get a more appropriate sized cylinder that won't have to be replaced as often as one of those tiny gun types. They'd also have all the fittings, valves, lines and regulators that you'd need.

Should be the same I sent you in e-mail. Just buy this and it will control the flow. This is the exact one I use and it has a nice little 1/8" FNPT port to use a quick-connect push type fitting for flexible tubing (I use 1/4" OD black tubing).

Ok.. thanks to everyone who helped me with the c02 info. I finally completed my chamber and tested it on a large rat tonight. Works Great!! I had every part I needed but the valve to turn the gas on/off as needed so I had to order on from an online paintball shop as I have no local paintball store. There is a Sports Authority here that filled the c02 tank for me @ $3 so that's good for me. I had a plastic container that I used for the "chamber" and I got some aquarium air tubing from the pet shop I work in and the silicone. The tank itself came from Wal-Mart and got the fittings from Home Depot.. The fill valve I had to order came from A-1PaintballStore.com So in the end I spent a total of $43 for everything I needed. Then when I run out of C02 it will be $3 to fill. I am very happy with it. In the following link are some pictures of the device, thanks again! : )

Nice set up!! I'm glad you are happy with your chamber. You made a few changes and made it your own design.
