Frogs not eating

lenny Dec 13, 2005 02:39 PM

I have a fantasy frog and a budgetts frog. What can I do to get them to eat? The budgetts frog is in a half inch of water. Should I put him in bedabeast and let him eastivate?

The Budgett's frog is 3 inches long. I've been feeding him 6 crickets, 3 times a week. I've had him about 4 months. He was eating until 10 days ago. I'm not sure about the temperature. I would guess 85 degrees. One thing did happen about 2 and a half weeks ago: the power went out and the temperature dropped to 50 degrees or so.

The Fantasy frog is 3 inches long. I've been feeding him 6 crickets, 3 times a week. I've had him 8 months. He hasn't eaten in a month. The temperature is around 85 degrees. He was also affected by the black out.

I also have a dwarf pixie frog who eats sporatically, a giant pixie frog that eats well, and a baby ornate horned frog that eats well.

Any advice would be appreciated.

how long was the power out? i would keep the budgetts in deeper water, mine was in about 3 inches of water. i fed mine fish mainly. for the fantasy i will take fish and rub it on a pacman's mouth using feeding tongs, they usually take them when i do that, it may be something worth trying out. i use zoo meds yellow plastic feeding tongs. how do you have the fantasy setup? and the budgetts? any pics?

Both are in 10 gallon tanks with a strip light and 2 25watt night glow bulbs. The fantasy frog is in an inch of bedabeast.

The budgett's frog is in a bare tank with just enough water to cover him.

The power was out about 5 hours. I live in New York so things got pretty cold. When I looked at the Budgett's frog the next morning he was cold and stiff. I thought he was dead. It was only when I came home from work that I saw he had come back to life.

and he hasnt eaten since? he may need to go to the vet. do you have one? if not you may need to find one and take him in, cant hurt. i would have the water deeper and maybe some places to hide, like PVC pipe connectors and piles of plants to hide under so he feels safe.

I'll try your suggestions. The fantasy frog has begun to eat again.

They reversed. The fantasy frog stopped eating. The budgett's frog has begun eating. I put in 3 inches of water. It worked. Thank you.

I got the fantasy frog to accept a fuzzy mouse.
